Rental Conditions Captain’s Choice and Grumpy Old Men houseboat rentals are rented by the 4-day midweek (Monday - Thursday) the 3-day weekend (Friday - Sunday) or by the 7-day weekly. The Lil’ Hobo is rented for any number of nights with a 2-night minimum. Captain’s Choice, Grumpy Old Men and Lil Hobo boarding times are pre-scheduled times between 9-11AM. Boats must be back by 3PM on the final day. A confirmation deposit of $500 for a Captain’s Choice, $500 for Grumpy Old Men, $500 for a Lil Hobo is required to reserve your vacation time slot and does not apply toward your rental fee. Provided your houseboat is returned undamaged, on time, clean and with a full undamaged inventory, your deposit will be returned to you within 2 weeks. Methods of payment: We will accept personal checks up to three weeks prior to your scheduled departure date. After that we will only accept cash, cashiers, certified or travelers checks, money orders, VISA or Mastercard. To avoid any misunderstandings concerning breakdowns, accidents, inclement weather, or loss of cruising time, we check all mechanical equipment prior to your departure in our houseboat rentals. You need not accept your boat until you are satisfied with your boat and equipment. However, once upon the river, you alone are responsible for its operation. Under these circumstances, we cannot be responsible for any loss of cruising time due to mechanical failure, weather, illness, accident etc. Refunds will not be made on houseboat rentals returned early or late departures. Prior to departure, a lease agreement must be signed and rental fee paid in full subject to a 6.5% state tax and 3% lodging tax. Renters are responsible for fuel and pump-outs upon return. Pets are not recommended. If you must bring your pet along, prior approval must be obtained and a $50 fee will be charged. Your cruising range is from Lock 3 to Lock 5A (Redwing to Winona) A total of 70 miles. Must be 25 years of age to rent or operate boats. Cancellation Policy If you must cancel, notify us in writing 45 days prior to your boarding date. Your deposit will be refunded minus a 25% service charge. Cancellations between 45 and 14 days prior to departure are subject to forfeiture of your entire deposit. Cancellations received less than 14 days prior to departure will be subject to charges of full scheduled houseboat rental rates. Any rescheduling will be subject to the same cancellation policies. We regret that we can not make exceptions for personal emergencies as a cause for cancellations.
